Driver Requirements summary

In order to drive using the Karjoin app, every driver will need a private hire license (PHV) from a council that Karjoin is licensed by.

In addition, Karjoin drivers will be required to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Only drivers over 21years of age will be employed
  • All drivers must have held a full UK driving license for 12 months (this is also a requisite of most Councils)
  • All drivers will be expected to have an excellent knowledge of the local area
  • All drivers must make a declaration in relation to any criminal convictions and be fully DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked
  • All drivers must be friendly and demonstrate the highest customer service at all times

The following documentation will also need to be provided:

  • National Insurance Number
  • UK Plastic Driving Licence (original)
  • PCO Paper Licence (original)
  • It is anticipated that all of the above will be checked and verified during Karjoin’s rigorous application and interview stages

Vehicle Requirements:

To ensure the safety of its customers, Karjoin will also ensure the drivers’s vehicles adhere to specific requirements. These will include:

  • Vehicle must be 2009 plates or newer
  • 4-door car with a minimum of 5 seats
  • Good condition with no cosmetic damage
  • No commercial branding
  • Vehicles must also meet the TfL Age and Condition Policy, which states that vehicles presented for first licensing in London must not be more than 5 years old from date of first registration and must meet, as a minimum, Euro 4 emission standards.

The following documentation will also need to be provided:

  • PHV Licence
  • Logbook (or New Keepers slip)
  • MOT (issued within the last 6 months)
  • Private Hire Insurance Certificate
